Act I:
Scene 1
Went out to Baldwin St. (quiet street of restaurants and patios) for dinner, had soup, salad, fish, 12 pcs sushi, and melon, all for 13$ including tax and tip. Sat on the patio under a cover while it rained. Best meal I'd had in a long while.
Scene 2
Strolled over to Phoenix (site of the night's Flogging Molly concert) and had time to kill so kept walking. Ran into a very nice district called cabbage town which had many old, charming buildings and small shops but was oddly full of homeless people. Walked up and down Parliament St. until finally choosing a restaurant. I went in and just ordered dessert: apple-caramel cheesecake. Not too much apple, but good cheesecake all the same. It was a lovely restaurant ("Pear" something…) but realistically I'll probably never go back.
Act II:
Scene 1
Waited in line at the Phoenix. Finally bought some FM swag: T-shirt, pin, patch and CD all for < 40$ = sweet. Waited for concert. Waited. Waited. Waited.
Scene 2
Throw Rag came on, but they were underwhelming: typical unintelligible scream punk. Passable, but not thrilling.
Scene 3
Waited. Watched people. Waited. Watched people. Waited.
Scene 4
FM are too great live. Forget mosh pits: jig pits are superlative. Man, they were awesome: worked the crowd to frenzy multiple times. Dripping sweat by the end, I tell you. Played songs from all their albums even though they had a new one just come out. Which is excellent since I've only heard three off their new album- in fact they only played one song to which I didn't know the words
Act III:
Scene 1
Concert ended around midnight so was still early enough to take the metro (big plus). All the way home I was trying to sort out my hair (long hair + one person away from stage = tapestry on head) and must have smelled and looked something horrid 'cause people kept staring at me. Didn't bother me, o'course, 'cause I was still glowing and ringing.
Scene 2
Home. Shower. Bed.
Epilogue
Work at 9 AM next day. So worth it.
